GAG plastic sheet is a three-layer co-extruded plastic sheet made by sandwiching an APET (amorphous polyethylene terephthalate) core between two PETG (glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate) outer layers. This co-extruded structure combines the cost efficiency and rigidity of APET with the superior impact resistance, bonding capability, and stress-whitening resistance of PETG - creating a material that outperforms single-layer APET in demanding thermoforming and packaging applications.
The most important practical advantage of GAG plastic sheet is its compatibility with high-frequency (HF) sealing and solvent bonding. Standard APET cannot be reliably HF-sealed or glued, which limits its use in many packaging formats. The PETG outer layers on GAG sheet solve this problem, making GAG the preferred material for folding boxes, clamshell packaging, and blister packs that require a sealed or bonded closure.
ONE Plastic is a GAG plastic sheet manufacturer in China. We produce GAG sheet on advanced co-extrusion lines using imported PETG resin for the outer layers and virgin APET resin for the core, delivering consistent clarity, forming performance, and bonding quality. For a full overview of our PET-family product range, see our GAG sheet category page.

Buyers often ask why they should use GAG sheet when APET and PETG are also available. The answer comes down to a cost-performance balance:
vs. Standard APET: APET is less expensive but cannot be HF-sealed or solvent-bonded, and it stress-whitens at fold lines and deep draws. For simple blister trays with moderate forming depth, APET works well. For folding boxes, HF-sealed clamshells, or deep-draw packaging, GAG is the better choice because the PETG outer layers provide the bonding and forming performance that APET lacks.
vs. Full PETG: PETG offers the best impact resistance and forming flexibility, but it costs more than GAG. Since GAG uses PETG only on the outer surfaces and APET for the core, it achieves most of the functional benefits of PETG at a lower material cost. For most packaging applications, GAG delivers PETG-level surface performance at closer to APET pricing.

GAG plastic sheet is used wherever the packaging or product requires both the visual clarity of PET and the bonding or forming performance that single-layer APET cannot deliver.
This is the single largest application for GAG sheet. Folding boxes for cosmetics, electronics, toys, and consumer goods require a material that can be scored, folded, and glued without stress-whitening at the crease lines. GAG sheet handles this well because the PETG outer layers absorb the stress without turning white, keeping the fold lines clear and transparent.
Many packaging formats use high-frequency (HF) welding to seal the clamshell or blister closed. Standard APET does not respond to HF energy, so it cannot be HF-sealed. GAG sheet's PETG outer layer provides the dielectric response needed for a strong, clean HF weld - making it the standard choice for HF-sealed packaging in electronics, hardware, and consumer goods.
GAG plastic sheet is used for thermoformed food containers, trays, and lids. The material offers good clarity for product visibility and can be produced in food-contact compliant grades. Contact our team if you require food-contact documentation for your application.
For food packaging that requires anti-fog performance for chilled products, see our anti-fog PET plastic sheet product page.
GAG sheet is thermoformed into display trays, product holders, and point-of-sale (POS) presentation pieces where visual clarity and structural rigidity are both important. The bonding-friendly PETG surface also makes assembly easier when multiple formed parts need to be glued together.
The smooth, glossy surface of GAG sheet accepts UV printing and screen printing. For packaging that requires printed graphics on the outer surface and an HF-sealable inner surface, GAG is the standard material choice.

GAG sheet thermoforms on standard vacuum and pressure forming equipment:
| Parameter | Guideline |
|---|---|
| Forming Temperature | 80-120 deg C |
| Mold Temperature | 40-65 deg C |
| Pre-drying | Recommended: 65 deg C for 2-4 hours |
| Forming Window | Wider than APET; PETG layers reduce crystallization risk |
| Deep Draw | Good - outperforms single-layer APET on complex shapes |
Pre-drying is recommended to prevent bubbles or haze caused by moisture absorbed during storage.
| Method | Compatibility |
|---|---|
| High-Frequency (HF) Sealing | Compatible - this is the primary reason many buyers choose GAG over APET |
| Solvent Bonding | Good - PETG surface responds well to PET/PETG solvent cements |
| Adhesive Bonding | Compatible with cyanoacrylate and UV-cure adhesives |
| Heat Sealing | Compatible with standard PET heat-seal equipment |
| Method | Notes |
|---|---|
| Die Cutting | Standard method for high-volume blanking |
| Guillotine / Shear | Suitable for straight cuts on thinner gauges |
| CNC Routing | Suitable for custom shapes |
| Method | Notes |
|---|---|
| UV Printing | Good adhesion on glossy PETG surface |
| Screen Printing | Compatible; produces vibrant results |
| Offset Printing | Compatible for pre-printed packaging |

GAG stands for the three-layer structure: G (PETG) + A (APET) + G (PETG). It is a co-extruded PET sheet with PETG on both outer surfaces and APET as the core layer. This structure is designed to combine the cost efficiency of APET with the surface performance of PETG.
High-frequency sealing works by generating heat through dielectric energy in the material. PETG responds to this energy and softens, creating a weld. APET has a different molecular structure that does not respond to HF energy in the same way. Since GAG has PETG on the outer surfaces, it can be HF-sealed just like full PETG sheet, but at a lower cost.
Yes, in most applications the clarity difference is minimal. Both APET and the PETG outer layers are highly transparent materials. The co-extrusion process produces a sheet with visual clarity that is comparable to single-layer APET or PETG for typical packaging thicknesses.
We offer GAG plastic sheet in thicknesses from 0.15mm to 2.0mm. Roll widths from 300mm to 1400mm are available, and custom cut-to-size services can be arranged. Contact our sales team with your specific requirements.
GAG sheet can be produced in food-contact compliant grades. If your application requires food-contact documentation, please specify this when requesting a quote so we can confirm the appropriate material grade.
GAG is typically less expensive than full PETG sheet because the core layer uses APET, which costs less than PETG resin. The PETG outer layers provide the surface bonding and forming benefits at a fraction of the cost of a full PETG sheet. For most packaging applications, GAG offers a strong cost-to-performance ratio.
