A shop knife that is of high quality can easily slice through materials that are up to 3 mm thick, and sheets that are up to 6 mm thick can be scored and snapped along the scored line for a neat edge. If you want to cut through expanded PVC more quickly and smoothly, you can use a circular saw, table saw, band saw, or router. Once the material has been cut, you can smooth out the edges with a file or sand them down with medium-grit sandpaper for a polished finish.
