Use PET-specific UV offset ink. General UV compatibility is not enough because the ink must be formulated to wet and adhere to PET under the actual curing conditions. Provide the ink family, press information, printed side, film thickness, and any post-print creasing, folding, or die cutting.
The approval trial should check coverage, adhesion, cure, registration, and appearance after the real downstream operation. If the artwork includes a white backing or transparent window, evaluate the proof over a background similar to the finished application.
Screen printing offers several possible ink routes, but each has a different boundary. UV screen ink is a stable option when selected for PET. Dedicated eco-solvent screen ink can be used when the surface has a suitable primer or corona treatment. Solvent screen ink is an established route, but the printer must manage VOC exposure and evaluate any corrosive or softening effect on the film.
Dedicated water-based screen ink can be considered when the surface treatment and drying conditions are tightly controlled. Latex is not suitable. In every case, test the production film, ink, deposit, curing or drying settings, and converting process together before approving a bulk run.
The product can be supplied with adhesive-free static protective film on one side or both sides. The protective layer helps shield the PET surface during packing, transport, and handling without using a residual adhesive.
Remove the protective film from the printable face before printing. The order and work instructions should state which face is treated, which face is protected, and when each protective layer will be removed. Protective film is a handling option; it does not replace clean storage, surface inspection, or an ink-adhesion test.
Two material-grade options are available. The 100% virgin option uses virgin PET resin. The 80% virgin option consists of 80% virgin resin and 20% reprocessed PET.
Select the grade according to the buyer’s application, appearance, documentation, and testing requirements. The 80% virgin option should not be described as a specific post-consumer recycled content or certification unless separate product documents confirm that claim.
