Anti-static PVC strip curtains are a specialized type of flexible doorway barrier designed to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) in environments where static-sensitive components, equipment, or processes are present. They look and hang like standard PVC strip curtains, but the material is formulated with an anti-static additive that dissipates surface charge rather than allowing it to build up.
This is not a general-purpose strip curtain page. If you need standard PVC strip curtains for temperature zoning, dust control, or general doorway barriers, see our main PVC curtain strip product range. This page is specifically about anti-static PVC strip curtains for ESD-sensitive applications.
ONE PLASTIC manufactures anti-static PVC strip curtains for electronics production facilities, cleanrooms, laboratories, pharmaceutical environments, and any workspace where uncontrolled static discharge could damage components or compromise product quality.
Standard PVC strip curtains generate static electricity through friction - every time a person, cart, or forklift passes through, the strips rub together and against whatever passes between them. In most warehouses, food plants, or loading docks, this static buildup is harmless.
But in ESD-sensitive environments, that static charge is a real problem:
A static discharge of just 100 volts can damage sensitive semiconductor components
A person walking through standard PVC strips can generate thousands of volts of static
Even undamaged components exposed to static may develop latent defects that cause field failures later
Anti-static PVC strip curtains solve this by incorporating an anti-static agent into the PVC compound that continuously dissipates charge to prevent buildup. The strips still provide the same doorway barrier function - dust control, temperature separation, visual screening - but without the static risk.
The difference between standard and anti-static PVC strip curtains comes down to surface resistivity - the material's ability to hold or dissipate electrical charge.
| Property | Standard PVC Strip Curtain | Anti-Static PVC Strip Curtain |
|---|---|---|
| Surface Resistivity | 10^12 ohms or higher (insulative) | 10^6 to 10^9 ohms (static-dissipative) |
| Static Charge Behavior | Charge builds up on surface, discharges unpredictably | Charge dissipates continuously, preventing buildup |
| ESD Risk | High - can generate thousands of volts through friction | Low - designed to stay within safe ESD thresholds |
| Use in ESD-Protected Areas | Not suitable | Suitable |
| Visual Appearance | Identical to anti-static version | Identical to standard version (may have slight tint) |
| Flexibility and Hang | Standard | Same as standard |
| Temperature and Dust Barrier | Yes | Yes - same barrier performance |
In practical terms: if your facility has ESD-protected areas (EPA), ESD work zones, or any area aligned with IEC 61340 or ANSI/ESD S20.20 practices, anti-static strip curtains can be specified for doorway barriers. Using standard PVC strip curtains in these areas introduces a potential static source at the exact point where people and materials move in and out - the highest-traffic, highest-risk location.
SMT lines, PCB assembly areas, semiconductor handling zones, component storage rooms, and test labs. Anti-static strip curtains are installed at doorways between ESD-protected production areas and adjacent corridors, warehouses, or non-EPA zones.
ISO Class 5-8 cleanrooms, pharmaceutical production rooms, and medical device manufacturing areas. Anti-static PVC strips serve as a secondary barrier at personnel and material pass-through points, reducing both particle ingress and static charge.
Electronics testing labs, calibration labs, chemical labs handling static-sensitive reagents, and research facilities with sensitive measurement equipment. Strip curtains at lab doorways maintain environmental separation while allowing easy pass-through.
Doorways and aisle containment barriers in server rooms and data centers where static discharge could damage networking equipment, storage devices, or server components.
Packaging lines, filling rooms, and inspection areas where static can attract particulate contamination to products or interfere with sensitive weighing, counting, and inspection equipment.
High-speed printing, laminating, and packaging lines where static buildup causes sheet feeding problems, ink misting, dust attraction, and product quality issues.

Anti-static PVC strip curtains are installed with a standard overlap (typically 50-100mm between adjacent strips) on a hanging rail or bracket system mounted above the doorway. The overlap ensures a continuous barrier while still allowing easy pass-through for personnel, hand carts, and forklifts.
We supply the PVC strip material in rolls. Hanging rails, brackets, and mounting hardware are available separately or as a complete curtain kit. For help choosing the right strip width, thickness, and overlap for your doorway size, contact our team.
This is the most important section for buyers evaluating whether they actually need anti-static strips, or whether standard strips would be sufficient.
Material Formulation: Anti-static PVC contains a static-dissipative additive (typically a permanent anti-static agent, not a surface coating) blended into the PVC compound. This means the anti-static property is inherent to the material and is not removed by normal cleaning or everyday use - unlike surface-applied anti-static sprays, which tend to lose effectiveness over time.
Performance Over Time: Because the anti-static agent is embedded in the bulk material, anti-static PVC strip curtains are designed to provide long-term anti-static performance under normal use and cleaning conditions. There is no recoating or retreatment required under typical operating circumstances.
Barrier Performance is the Same: Anti-static strips provide the same temperature separation, dust barrier, noise reduction, and visual screening as standard PVC strips of the same dimensions. Switching from standard to anti-static does not reduce barrier performance.
Price Difference: Anti-static PVC strip curtains cost more per meter than standard PVC strips - typically 20-40% more depending on thickness and anti-static specification. The premium reflects the cost of the anti-static additive and the tighter quality control required to verify surface resistivity.
When Standard Is Fine: If your facility does not handle static-sensitive components, does not have ESD-protected areas, and does not require ESD compliance, standard PVC strip curtains are sufficient. For general warehouse, food processing, cold storage, and loading dock use, standard strips are the right choice. See our full PVC curtain strip range for standard options.

If your facility handles electronics, semiconductors, circuit boards, or any static-sensitive components - or if you have designated ESD-protected areas (EPA) - you should use anti-static strip curtains at doorways entering those areas. If your facility is a warehouse, food plant, cold storage, or general manufacturing without ESD concerns, standard PVC strip curtains are sufficient.
No. The anti-static agent in our PVC strip curtains is blended into the bulk material during manufacturing, not applied as a surface coating. This means the anti-static performance is designed to be long-lasting under normal use and cleaning conditions. Regular cleaning with mild detergent and water does not significantly affect the anti-static properties.
Anti-static PVC strips can function in temperatures down to approximately -20 C. However, if your primary requirement is cold storage barrier performance (not ESD protection), standard PVC strip curtains designed specifically for cold/freezer use may be more cost-effective. Anti-static strips are optimized for ESD protection, not for extreme cold-chain applications.
For pedestrian doorways, the standard overlap is approximately 50mm (about one-third of the strip width for 200mm strips). For forklift or cart traffic, wider strips (300-400mm) with 75-100mm overlap are typical. The overlap ensures a continuous barrier while allowing pass-through.
Yes. Clear is the standard because it provides visibility through the curtain. We can also supply tinted, translucent, or opaque colored anti-static strips on request. Colored strips are sometimes used for visual zoning - for example, a distinct color to mark the boundary of an ESD-protected area.
MOQ depends on the strip width, thickness, and any custom specifications. For standard anti-static strips in common sizes, MOQ is typically low. Contact us for a specific quote based on your requirements.
